Calling on Nominations for Members of MICI’s External Consultative Group

Missing media item.

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI – acronym in Spanish) of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group) undertook an extensive process over the past several months to consult widely on a proposal to establish an External Consultative Group (GCE – acronym in Spanish). The purpose of the GCE is to support MICI’s commitment to promoting its accountability mandate in an effective and transparent fashion. MICI distributed the GCE Concept Note at the beginning of July 2016 to a wide range of stakeholders, including civil society representatives, academics, government officials, and accountability experts.

As a result, MICI received valuable feedback via email and in person from numerous stakeholders. They all expressed support for the initiative and its goal of promoting increasing transparency and civil society participation at MICI. There were a number of queries about the exact role and mandate of the GCE, the nature of its work, and how its members would be selected. We are pleased to share with you the GCE Consultation Process Report which contains all of the feedback received and MICI responses.

This feedback was, in turn, incorporated into the GCE Operating Procedures which you will also find attached. We are now calling for nominations from those interested in applying to serve as a member of the GCE. Please, see the Operating Procedures for information on membership composition, members’ responsibility, and member selection process, including the selection criteria. Interested candidates should send the following information:

  • Curriculum Vitae; and
  • One-page Statement of Interest expressing why you desire to serve on the GCE, and how your experience and expertise will add value to the Group.

Please send your applications by November 30, 2016 to John Garrison of MICI via email: jgarrison@iadb.org. We will disseminate and post the names and profiles of those selected as members of the GCE by mid-December.
