Inclusion of People with Disabilities
In Latin America and the Caribbean, over 70 million people, 12.5% of the population, live with a disability. Despite robust legal frameworks, social and economic inclusion of people with disabilities faces dramatic challenges.
The IDB focuses on building an operational portfolio based on strong analytical foundations following the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. Lines of action include support to inclusive education, accessible infrastructure and public services, certification of disability , and public services, certification of disability, and interoperability of information systems.
