For the IDB Group, consultations with civil society represent a fundamental step, although consultations are advisory and not binding on the Bank, which shall include input during each of the phases outlined in the plan prepared as it relates to policy, strategy, or project.

According to the guidelines established by the Bank on the process of developing country strategies (GN- 2468-6) and the guidelines of the strategy to promote citizen participation in the activities of the Bank (GN- 2232-5), the IDBC conducts a series of consultations to hear opinions and obtain relevant considerations and suggestions from civil society.
