Trust Funds

The IDB Group administers --on behalf of third party institutions—financial contributions to complement IDB Group programs, projects and activities to meet emerging needs of borrowing member countries. To receive contributions the IDB Group establishes trust funds (single-donor or multi-donor; reimbursable and non-reimbursable), project specific grants and accesses many financial intermediary funds.. Contributions are received from countries in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, as well as multilateral institutions and provide donors.

Donor funds at the IDB Group are a critical source of not only grant financing for technical cooperation and investment grants, but also of know-how, expertise, and knowledge transfer. Increasingly donor funds provide resources for blended finance operations at IDB Invest as well as innovation at IDB Lab. We also administer reimbursable financing on behalf of partners. Donor priorities are aligned with the priority needs in our region.

Since 2000, partners have contributed approximately US$5.14 billion (US$4.53 billion in trust funds and US$610 million in project specific grants), and as of June 30, 2020 we have US$740 million under administration in 64 active donor trust funds and PSGs, financing  989 active operations.

Working together with our partners, we improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. We look forward to a continued partnership.
