Applying for Financing for Public Sector Projects

Any national, state, or municipal government agency or other public entity that wishes to apply for IDB financing should present a formal letter requesting funding to the agency or ministry within that country’s national government that coordinates external resources for project financing.

Although each country has its own procedures for processing requests, the letter should generally be signed by a government official at the ministerial level (for requests from national government entities), the governor (for state or provincial requests) or the mayor (for requests from municipalities). In addition, the letter should identify the priority level for the request, taking into account other requests that have been previously submitted to the coordinating agency.
