The SECCI Innovation Grant

Background:

As part of a global effort to increase awareness on internationally-sensitive topics such as Climate Change and Energy Sustainability, SECCI has a strong commitment to the generation of knowledge, innovation and dissemination of experiences on its different areas of expertise (The four SECCI Pillars). In order to reach the entire LAC population, giving close attention to include all the sectors of societies, SECCI will donate funds for the promotion of innovative projects and activities that include strong considerations for protection of the environment and also to benefit local communities. To make this initiative as transparent as possible the SECCI group decided to create the SECCI Innovation Grant, a merit based competition in which the most complete, environmentally and socially aware projects are financed by SECCI.

Objective:

The objective of the SECCI Innovation Grant is to generate and diffuse knowledge on the four SECCI pillars throughout LAC, while at the same time promoting public participation in projects with added-value in areas such as the protection of the environment, sustainability and integration of all sectors of society.

The Award:

A total of 10 grants of US$ 100.000 dollars/each will be awarded by SECCI to the top projects.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Criteria will depend on the specific competition requirements. Generally, the SECCI group will evaluate the following aspects of projects:

• (i) SECCI Relevance. Is there a relation to any of the SECCI Pillars?
• (ii) Innovation: Has the project/activity been done before?
• (iii) Replicability: Can it be replicated in other parts?
• (iv) Environmental (global and local) and Social Impacts: What are they?
• (v) Other Impacts and Results: are the project/activity results measurable?
