External Partnerships

Partnership with other institutions

The IDB collaborates and coordinates its practices with those of other institutions in its partner countries and multilateral organizations, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its development assistance. Some of these initiatives include:

  • Multilateral Development Bank's Working Group on Gender
  • Regional Inter-Agency Taskforce for the Reduction of Maternal Mortality
  • IDB's External Advisory Council on Gender Equality in Development (EAC)

From 1995, IDB's External Advisory Council on Gender Equality in Development advises the Bank on issues reflecting a gender perspective in IDB-financed programs. The goal of the EAC is to encourage greater attention to GED issues in the region and the Bank.

The EAC members come from NGOs, academic institutions, governments and the private sector with broad expertise in GED issues and related fields; knowledge of Latin American and the Caribbean; and an understanding of the institutional workings of agencies such as the IDB.

  • Present Members of the EAC
  • Former Members of the EAC
  • The EAC meets once or twice a year and generates recommendations for areas in which the Bank could work more effectively for gender equality.

  • Statements by the EAC Meetings (click on the year): 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006.
