Updates From the LAC Health Accounts Steering
Committee
August 2002 In
Peru various studies of expenditure and financing of health have
been conducted: "Análisis de Costos de los Servicios de Salud
1994" and "Análisis de la Demanda de los Servicios de Salud
1995" implemented by the Research Center of the Universidad del Pacífico; "Análisis del Gasto Público en
Salud 1994" prepared by MACROCONSULT S.A.; "Análisis
del Financiamiento del Sector Salud 1992-1995" executed by the
consortium ESAN/AUPHA/SERVERS/ FUNSALUD); and the "Revisión y
actualización del financiamiento del sector salud 1995-1996"
prepared in 1997, under the auspices of the "Generación de
Capacidades en el Ministerio de Salud-Perú" project and
financed by the Overseas Development Administration (ODA) of Great
Britain.
In 1998 the Ministry of Health, with the support
of PAHO and PHR/USAID designed and estimated a Health Satellite
Account for the years 1995-1996, using the definitions of the United
Nations System of National Accounts 1993 and the methodology of
satellite accounts. Peru published a report on this round of
estimations, which had permitted to organize transactions dispersed
throughout several productive and social sectors, into a single
integrated system, and which gave consistency and continuity to
economic and financial statistics, integrating them with the
production statistics for the health sector (please see below).
Mayo 2005
Health accounts studies continue at the state
level. Four states have undertaken estimations with the
support of PHRplus/USAID. At the moment, this subject
is not among the priorities of the Ministry of Health. Submit
