Updates From the LAC Health Accounts Steering Committee
May 2004
The Bolivian team has applied the Harvard
methodology with some modifications, based on the needs and
characteristics of the country. Matrices of health sector financial flows
and expenditures for the years 1995-1998 were published in 2000. The
National Institute of Statistics provided a portion of the data.
The study is being updated and more recent estimates will be published in 2004.
Among the challenges encountered by the Bolivian team was the
collection of private sector data and disaggregate data on external
financing.
The Bolivian health
accounts estimates activities have been financed by USAID and by the
British cooperation
through the Abrir Salud
Project (see Links).
