Millions of Latin American and Caribbean households face a continually growing housing problem, as the formal economy has failed to produce enough homes to meet the needs of the growing population and has done little to improve the quality of the existing housing stock.

Policies and programs sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank mobilize private and public resources to expand the production and financing of new, low-cost housing and improve existing low-income neighborhoods and homes, creating better living conditions for the impoverished population of the region.
