The Social Development Division (SDS/SOC) supports IDB operations and helps to identify and promote new opportunities for Bank action in social development that will accelerate growth and improve the well-being of people in Latin America and the Caribbean. Working in tandem with the Bank's operational departments, the Division offers technical advice on priority issues for women and indigenous groups through the Women in Development Unit and the Indigenous Peoples and Community Development Unit. It gives similar assistance in the areas of early childhood development, health, labor markets, urban development, violence prevention and control, and the formulation of social policy.
