Information available through the Internet
The Consultative Group on Early Childhood Care and Development has created a Website that will include much of the material presented in this guide as well as more specific information and links to other sources on the Internet. The address for the Website is
http://www.ecdgroup.com. The Website organizes information under the following categories:
- General issues relating to early childhood care and development (an overview, theory, arguments for early childhood care and development, and related topics).
- The composition and activities of the Consultative Group on Early Childhood Care and Development, an international consortium of which the IDB is a member (participants, activities, a conference room, and a bulletin board).
- International activity on behalf of young children (regional networks and country reports, program and project profiles, global initiatives such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and meetings and conferences).
- Program-related topics (needs assessment, monitoring and evaluation, approaches to programming, elements in the process, and content and methodology).
- Research.
- Policy.
- Resources (literature, audiovisual material, and other resources).
- Key issues in early childhood care and development.
- Related Internet sites.
Another good source on the Internet is the Website set up by the World Bank, at http://www.worldbank.org/children. These two Websites can lead you to others relating to young children.
