The Knowledge Economy in Development: Perspectives for Effective Partnerships

(11/05, En)

Knowledge economy expansion is a conceptual and programmatic "bridge" between the Bank's two overarching objectives: fostering sustainable economic growth and reducing poverty while promoting equity. This publication is part of the ongoing IDB effort to improve the effectiveness of its partnership with the countries in the region to ensure that the construction of this "bridge" responds to their respective values, needs, conditions, resources and aspirations.

The twelve chapters, each written by a person(s) with unique experience and insight, are divided into four parts: ICT in sustainable economic growth, ICT in human capital, ICT in governance and ICT institution building. The contents seek to stimulate dialogue to better match the political will of the countries to accelerate knowledge economy expansion to achieve development objectives with the resources and experience of the Bank.
