This report presents the results of a survey of key actors in the health sector in Latin American and Caribbean countries (conducted in July and August, 2004). Approximately 200 leaders from the public and private sectors and civil society organizations expressed their opinions about critical health issues in the region, and about the IDB?s possible contribution to the sector. Specifically, the questionnaire covered four areas: i) identification of national health priorities; ii) performance of essential functions in public health ; iii) reform of the health service delivery systems; and iv) IDB´s support to the sector. The results of the survey will serve as input to the preparation of the IDB Health Strategy, currently in progress.
