In 1987 the Board of Executive Directors of the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) approved an Operating Policy on Women in Development to guide efforts in incorporating women?s concerns in the work of the Bank. This policy requires periodic updates by Management to the Board on the status of its implementation and the progress achieved. In response to this mandate, this report reviews three years of activities at the Bank, covering the 1995-97 period. It is the third of such reports and describes the work done in the period. It also reflects on the institutional gains, the lessons learned and the challenges that remain.
