This is a strategy profile currently under preparation within the Bank. It does not necessarily reflect official Bank views on the topic. Once the strategy is favorably considered by the Bank's Board of Executive Directors, it will be published as a Bank document.
The objective of the Consultation Process is to strengthen and validate the contents proposed in the profile of the Health Strategy that constitutes a framework for the Bank Action in the Sector, with the purpose of obtaining a final document that reflect the necessities, concerns and development visions of the health policy of the countries of the Region. This profile follows some of the guidelines presented in the IDB Social Strategy, approved in 2003. This documents will allow for better use of Bank resources in order to support national health objectives adapted to the condition of each country; to strengthen the institutional capacity of health systems raising their efficiency to achieve strategic health objectives; to improve the effectiveness of the services through primary health care strategies and to promote public health innitiatives.
