In the first article, Marguerite Berger, Microfinance Specialist at the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Division at IDB, examines the results of the IDB“s Global Credit Programs. These programs aim at facilitating access of formal financial institutions to microcredit through an apex model. The article explores the success factors and the risks of applying this model. In the second article, Pablo Angelelli y Claudia Suaznįbar, also from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Division at IDB, compare the different models used in the IDB programs to promote Business Development Services (BDS) markets. The authors analyze the results achieved by these programs and they put forward recommendations for the design of future projects.
