Globalization and economic integration are making training policies more important as a well-trained work force is key to provide domestic firms with a competitive edge, and workers must adapt to accelerating technical and market changes. The paper discusses the status of training policies in Latin America, and reviews some approaches that are shaping the evolution of policies and institutions in the region.
