A round table on Poverty and Gender was held in the Inter-American Development Bank?s office in Paris on 10-11 January 2002. Representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden met with officials of the Inter-American Development Bank. The overall objective of the round table was to foster mutual understanding on the approaches to poverty reduction and gender issues, in a spirit of partnership. The idea for the round table was made by Mr. Enrique V. Iglesias, President of the IDB, at the 2001 IDB Annual Meeting, in response to an open and forthcoming discussion between the high level Nordic representatives and the IDB concerning the IDB?s approach to poverty reduction and gender-issues.
