Video Vida sana es más vida
By SDS/SOC (06/01, En, Es) See also Social Development
Available only in Spanish.

The video states that individuals, families, and communities can and should have a more active role in preserving their health, through the reduction of risk factors and the adoption of healthy behaviors. It also highlights the importance of implementing comprehensive health promotion and disease/injury prevention interventions within the health reform process, based on the definition of priority areas, the identification of goals, and the monitoring and evaluation of results. In addition, the video emphasizes the benefits of intersectoral and interinstitutional coordination among all the parties that have an impact on health status, such as education, transportation, labor, security, local governments and others. The video presents five modules with examples on the benefits of this approach: infant-maternal health, domestic violence, early pregnancy, elderly health and nutrition. The data presented is based on cases in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Paraguay, United Kingdom, United States and Uruguay; however, the message is universal and thus, applicable to other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The video was designed specifically to promote a wide cultural change in relation to health: from a passive and sick role to an active and preventive one. It can be used at least in two settings:
- Schools, community or other types of local meetings. For this purpose it comes with a discussion guideline.
- Open TV journalistic programs where the general message, particularly the modules, can create discussion and analysis by panelists.
Please note that the video is free of charge.
