In Latin America and the Caribbean, a significant chasm exists between womens' opportunity to lead and the advances made over recent years in the region from democratic and market reforms. Through civic and economic activity, women helped to shape the regions' current political, economic, and social landscape. Today, women provide an increasing share of the workforce that facilitates the region?s participation in the global marketplace. Yet, women's experience and skills are not adequately contributing to decision-making and governance, and womens' talents are not fully utilized in the regions' growth.
