ANA MARIA BRASILEIRO is the Coordinator of the Program for the Support of Women?s Leadership and Representation (PROLEAD). Formerly she was the Chief of the Latin American and Caribbean Section of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). She has also worked for UNICEF and the Brazilian Government. She has been a Professor at the Getulio Vargas Foundation and Director of the Urban Research Center of IBAM (a Brazilian NGO devoted to local government and urban issues). Ms. Brasileiro holds a Doctorate Degree in Political Science form the University of Essex, Great Britain; a Master?s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, USA; and a Law degree from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. She is the author of several publications on women?s issues and urban development.
