4th Meeting - Developing Financial Markets: The Challenges for the Decade
June 13, 2005 - IDB Conference Center, Washington D.C.

The Regional Financial Sector Forum brought together a small and select number of renowned public and private sector financial experts from the member countries to discuss the implications arising from changes in the region's financial sector in the last decade, the barriers and major challenges for financial markets growth.

The one-day brainstorming discussion centered around what the Panel of Experts considered to be the challenges and major impediments to the growth of the financial systems in the region and what should be the Inter-American Development Bank's (the Bank) agenda in helping to overcome them. The outcome of this brainstorming provided an important input into the Bank's Financial Markets Strategy. This Strategy will be a pivotal document in establishing priorities and serving as guidance to the Bank and its borrowing member countries.
