Infrastructure and Financial Markets

The Infrastructure and Financial Markets Division (IFM) of the Inter-American Development Bank is a source of expertise, leadership and innovation in support of the Institution's lending and technical assistance activities on issues related to private sector participation in economic activity, especially in the fields of infrastructure investment and management, the restructuring and reform of financial and capital markets, and the development of private enterprises. IFM has an established role in technical support to the Regional Departments of the Bank, particularly in the promotion of innovative financial tools.

Recent work has involved topics such as sector structure and regulation of the transportation, electricity and water sectors; private infrastructure management and finance; pension fund and insurance market reform; development of financial and securities markets, intermediaries and instruments; financial sector supervision; and preparation of enterprise development strategies for various countries.
