Sector Strategies
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONSULTATION PROCESSTo follow up on the approval of the recommendations of the Institutional Strategy (Renewing the Commitment to Development: Report of the Working Group of the Institutional Strategy), the Board of Directors of the Bank requested that the Banks management prepare new sector strategies in priority areas, and update and consolidate the current set of strategies, policies and operational guidelines of the Institution. The Sustainable Development Department (SDS) has been assigned to coordinate the process in which the following Departments are also participating: Regional Operations Departments, the Department of Strategic Planning and Budget (DPP), the Research Department (RES), the Department of Integration and Regional Programs (INT), the Legal Department (LEG), the Private Sector Department (PRI) and the Offices of the Presidency (PRE) and the Executive Vice President (EVP), among others. According to the guidelines established by the Board of Directors regarding the development of the strategies, a consultation process will take place with a wide range of relevant actors from civil society (NGOs, academics, unions, corporate and professional associations, Civil Society Advisory Councils from the Banks Country Offices, etc). The purpose of the consultation process is to transmit opinions, comments and suggestions to the teams developing the strategies, which will contribute to the documents enrichment. The consultation process will include various modalities, such as electronic consultations through specialized networks of experts and civil society organizations; workshops and seminars with experts and representatives from civil society organizations; meetings with Civil Society Advisory Councils from Country Offices and other with civil society representatives. As a first step in the consultation process, the profiles of each of the strategies have been made available online; we welcome you to send us your comments on the profiles. Once the draft strategy documents are developed, they will be posted online at this same WEB site and will be open to receive comments, opinions and recommendations. |
