Latin American Labor Markets in the 1990's: Deciphering the Decade.
By Suzanne Duryea, Olga Jaramillo, Carmen Pages (07/02, En, Es)
This working paper is being published with the sole objective of contributing to the debate on a topic of importance to the region, and to elicit comments and suggestions from interested parties. This paper has not gone through the Department's peer review process or undergone consideration by the SDS Management Team. As such, it does not reflect the official position of the Inter-American Development Bank.
Opportunities in the labor market are critical to the well being of individuals and families in Latin America since total household income is more dependent on labor earnings than in other regions. This paper attempts to take a global view on labor markets in the region as a whole in the hopes of discerning important patterns and intertemporal trends from comparative data.
