Evaluating Social Security Reform in Argentina during the 1990s

This paper describes the process of social security and pensions reform in Argentina during the nineties. The paper identifies the main problems of the new pension system that lead to a negative performance during the 1999-2002 crises. The IDB role onto mitigating some negative effects in the pension system crises is highlighted in the paper. The paper also specifies some lessons learned during the reform process that could be useful to the future adjustments in the Argentinean pension system.
