IDB-CDB BUILDING LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
2007 marks the fourth year of Dialogues hosted jointly by the Caribbean Development Bank/Inter American Development Bank with Civil Society Organizations (CSO's) in the Caribbean. The first was held in Jamaica in February 2004. The second joint dialogue, which focused on "Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Development in the Caribbean", was held in Barbados on January 25-27, 2005. The third was held in Trinidad and Tobago on January 24 and 25, 2006 and focused on the theme, "CSO Responsibilities and Action in National Decision-making, Development Planning and Implementation".
This fourth Dialogue explored issues and strategies related to Building Partnerships for Community Development, through case studies, field visits, group discussion and lecture presentations. The Dialogue had as its objectives to:
- Follow-up on commitments from the 2006 Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)/Inter American Development Bank (IDB) conference in Trinidad and Tobago;
- Increase opportunities for dialogue between CSOs and CDB/IDB;
- Exchange of information and experiences between CSOs and CDB/IDB;
The planned outputs of the Dialogue were for improved knowledge of CSOs' responsibilities and actions in Building Local Partnerships for Community Development; improved networking amongst CSOs and between CSOs and CDB/IDB, and for specific recommendations and pathways for action.
