The results from the elections that took place between December 2005 and December 2006 in the Andean Region show a new political map characterized by the emergence of new actors and the diminished but persistent presence of long established political organizations.
These two publications are closely related since one discusses the importance of strengthening the political party system andthe other the need to address the political agenda in a more substantial and efficient way. On the one hand, "La política por dentro en los países andinos" exposes the dialogue and discussions with the leaders of every political association interviewed in the five Andean countries: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. It also presents details of the structures and internal dinamics of the political organizations including basic statistics on the andean political parties and volatility and fragmantation indices; presenting the challenges these political organizations are facing.
"La politica y la pobreza en los paises andinos" relates the general perspectives and concrete initiatives on social policies and the fight against poverty in Andean countries. It is about getting to know how these parties face poverty, education, exclusion and inequality.
