Documents III CDB/IDB Civil Society Meeting
The first CDB/IDB dialogue with Civil Society Organizations (CSO's) in the Caribbean was held in Jamaica in February 2004. At that conference, it was agreed that in order for issues of particular relevance to the countries of the English-speaking Caribbean to be addressed more fully, a conference, separate from the IDB annual regional meeting, would be held every year with CSO's in the Caribbean.. The second joint CDB/IDB dialogue, which focused on "Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Development in the Caribbean", was held in Barbados on January 25-27, 2005. This third conference was held in Trinidad and Tobago on January 24 and 25, 2006 and focused on the theme, "CSO Responsibilities and Action in National Decision-making, Development Planning and Implementation". The conference had as its objectives to:
- Follow-up on commitments from the 2005 CDB/IDB conference in Barbados
- Increase opportunities for dialogue between CSOs and CDB/IDB and other development partners
- Facilitate exchange of information and experiences between CSOs and CDB/IDB
The planned outputs of the conference were for improved knowledge of CSOs' responsibilities and actions in national decision-making, development planning and implementation; improved networking amongst CSO's and CDB/IDB as well as with other development partners, and for specific recommendations and pathways for action.
