Training

Training, Research and Development: Training is a privileged form of technology transfer. It is a tool to increase efficiency and competitiveness. As economies throughout the region continue to modernize, more forms of training will be required. Out of necessity, training institutions will have to increase their flexibility and strengthen the mechanisms through which course offerings and applications are adapted to changes in the labor market. This holds true across the productive sectors, formal and informal. Applied research and development, thus located, will provide an increasingly sounder foundation upon which these responses can take place. Despite the importance assumed by these activities, few comparative studies based on systematically collected and analyzed data exist. As a partial response, the Education Unit, in collaboration with CINTERFOR, is undertaking a comparative study of research and development within the region's training institutes.
