The Education Unit (SDS/EDU) focuses on Bank activities related to education, training, and social and technology. The Unit shares a three-pronged mission with the Sustainable Development Department:
- To support operations in the conception and design of new projects;
- To develop policies and strategies; and
- To monitor and assess the Bank's portfolio of loans in those areas.
Through these activities, the Unit explicitly recognizes and strengthens the feedback loop between the design of projects, the design of policies and a better understanding of implementation. Unit activities support, directly and indirectly, the work of the Social Divisions in the three Regions.
