In 1995, the International Institute for Food Policy Research intiated discussions on policies concerning world agriculture, food, natural resources, and rural development, to better understand the impact of agriculture on the rest of the economy and on society. This volume (which is only available in Spanish) includes papers presented in three seminars that took place in Latin America during 1996, attended by experts from the public and private sectors as well as academics and government officials.


About the Authors: Lucio Reca is affiliated with the International Institute for Food Policy Research. Ruben Echeverría is Senior Agricultural Economist in the Environment Division, Sustainable Development Department.
