This report describes the performance of the Poverty Targeted Investments (hereafter PTI) lending program during the 1995-1997 period. The description will focus on the relative number and size of PTI loans and their distribution --by region, country groups and sector. We also describe the effect of changes in the classification criteria. Following the description of PTI lending program performance, the report highlights the PTI projects approved during 1997, which the Regional Departments selected as "good practices". We conclude with a summary of main findings and recommendations for improving future performance and relevance of the PTI lending program.
