Lineamientos para el apoyo a la microempresa en Ecuador
(12/01, En, Es)
Available in Spanish only.
Although microenterprises in Ecuador employ 40% of the working population, the supply of financial and non-financial products and services only reaches 11.8% of microentrepreneurs. Furthermore, these products and services are frequently disconnected with the microenterprise sector's unique characteristics. This gap between supply and demand is mostly due to the current regulatory framework. Based on a study of microentrepreneurial needs and available financial and non-financial products and services, this working paper identifies bottlenecks constraining the institutions that cater to the sector, and suggests guidelines to international donors aiming to better support the microenterprise sector in Ecuador.
This working paper is being published with the sole objective of contributing to the debate on a topic of importance to the region and to elicit comments and suggestions from interested parties. The paper has not gone through the Department's peer review process or undergone consideration by the SDS Management Team. As such, it does not represent the official position of the Inter-American Development Bank. Please direct your comments to
