Databank on Indigenous Legislation

This databank contains information on indigenous legislation classified by country and by theme for all countries of Latin America. There are 20 themes and their respective subthemes, covering from cultural diversity, identification criteria and language to land and territories, economic rights and civil registry.

In addition to the transcription of all legislation at the constitutional, primary and secondary levels and, in some cases, jurisprudence, the database also includes an analysis of the relative progress made in the legislation, both in quantitative and qualitative terms.

Please note that the comparative tables and graphs in the sections on Quality of Legislation by Category, Graphics, and Indigenous Legislation Index are updated until December 2004. Legislation adopted after that date is included in the legislation by country and theme, and will be reflected in the comparative tables and graphs shortly.
