This publication contains the final report of the ?Technical Seminar on Water and Poverty for Latin America and the Caribbean: Setting a Research Agenda.? The seminar was held in Santiago, Chile, and was organized by the IDB-Netherlands Water Partnership Program (INWAP) in collaboration with the Fundación Centro Nacional de Medio Ambiente (CENMA) of the University of Chile, and is part of the Dialogue on Water and Poverty, an international initiative being coordinated by the Asian Development Bank on behalf of the Third World Water Forum Secretariat. The main objectives of the Dialogue are to get a clear understanding of the correlation between water and poverty and to present finding and proposals for action programs.

The Seminar was designed as a training activity to: i) learn was has been done, empirically and theoretically, to determine the impact and/or relationship of water on poverty reduction; ii) analyze different existing methods and tools and; iii) determine a series of research topics that could be commissioned in the subject.
