Meeting of Regional Development Banks and The Secretariat, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change: 2-3 April 2003

This meeting brought together representatives of UNFCCC, Regional and Sub-regional development banks, the World Bank, and the Global Environment Facility for the purpose of identifying common interests on issues related to climate change and sustainable development in support of developing countries and economies in transition.

Urban Transport, Local Environmental Management and Climate Change: July 18 2003

The seminar served to discuss state-of-the-art studies and practical experiences in urban transportation systems, local environmental management initiatives and newly developing international markets for carbon offsets. Speakers and participants included both academics and practitioners from the Region and International Organizations.

Greenhouse Gas Mitigation - Opportunities for Latin America and the Caribbean: A Briefing and Stock-taking: 8 March 2004

With several LAC Vice-Ministers of Environment in attendance, the purpose of this informal meeting was to discuss ongoing activities, strategies and capacity building in the area of climate change mitigation and renewable energy on the part of the IADB, World Bank, GEF, USAID and UNDP. It also provided an opportunity for the Vice-Ministers to share their experience in project development and institutional strengthening.
