Climate Action Plan: Call for proposals
Invitation for submission of proposals
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in the framework of the approved Climate Action Plan, is financing a series of policy studies on Climate Change. The objective of the study ?Greenhouse Gas Abatement and Economic Development: Synergies and Challenges? is to obtain the specific aspects and policy options regarding Climate Change for countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), and disseminate these results to policy makers and participants in both the public and private sectors.
We believe the mainstreaming of Climate Change themes would assist the LAC region in assessing the political economy implications of climate change issues and adequately analyze the important public policy decisions that will need to be taken for the elaboration of the national and regional climate change strategies.
A process of competitive bidding will be used to grant non-reimbursable funds to research centers to conduct studies and analysis in this subject. Participate in the submittal of a proposal for this study!
We expect the study will help address three key questions on the interactions between economic development and greenhouse gases mitigation:
- How large are the potential opportunities presented in Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) countries by more climate-friendly economic development?
- What is actually needed within LAC countries to mobilize this potential?
- How could international policies and institutions contribute to the realization of this potential?
Send your proposals by e-mail to Virginia Alzina (virginiaa@iadb.org) no later than July 31, 2002. Please submit all documentation in Spanish and in English. A panel will evaluate the proposals presented and we will notify the selected institutions of the results on September the 6th. Please find more information in the attached Terms of Reference.
Please include at the end of your proposal the following information: (a) institutional data on your organization, manpower resources to be assigned and experience on the topic; (b) administration/organizational information on how the study will be undertaken and, c) technical issues and cost.
