Private Sector Liaison Networks
Disseminating Information about the IDB Group
The IDB Group provides private sector audiences in member countries with information about business opportunities for projects with high development impact in the region.
The Bank works with a network of private sector liaison officers as well as with liaisons of international financial institutions; these liaisons work at embassies of the Bank’s member countries, in Washington, D.C.
The goal of this partnership is to promote the activities of the IDB Group in its member countries, and to strengthen communication between the Bank, private sector companies, and financial institutions located in the member countries.
Private Sector Liaison Officers Network
The IDB has developed a professional network of liaison officers in order to strengthen ties with the private sector and to promote activities, products, and services available to the private sector.
The Private Sector Liaison Officers (PSLO) consist of a select group of representatives that, together with the IDB Group, support firms, consultants, and financial institutions in the member countries interested in encouraging sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. PSLO professionals work for business and trade associations, investment promotion agencies, chambers of commerce, industries, and private sector companies.
The liaison officers, working in partnership with the Bank, are useful contact points for disseminating information to a wide range of private sector companies and financial institutions on how to work with the IDB Group and how to strategically identify potential partners in the region. These officers also participate actively in the organization of thematic events, facilitating contact between local companies and the IDB Group, and fostering knowledge about the IDB Group in member countries.
The Canadian PSLO Network was launched in September 2005 and the European PSLO Network―made up of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom―was launched in October 2006. At present, the Bank continues to expand its network of partners in the region.
International Financial Institutions in Embassies
The Bank exchanges useful information about business opportunities with the international financial institutions liaisons who work in the embassies of the Bank’s member countries, and assists them with their needs.
