What is The Economic and Social
Progress Report (IPES)?
The Economic and Social Progress Report (better known by its Spanish acronym, IPES) is the flagship publication of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). In each edition of the IPES the IDB analyzes a specific aspect of the development process of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Topics in recent years have included public debt, banking, policymaking processes, labor markets, international trade, and competitiveness, among others. The report discusses a selected issue from a global perspective and presents a wide-ranging debate on some of the most pressing issues in those areas. Raising fundamental questions that have no easy answers, the report offers the findings of a collective research effort involving one major topic. The main goal of the IPES is to provide key inputs and tools to help researchers and policymakers understand what the key elements of development are and those that have to be targeted when deciding upon new projects or new research studies for the progress of the region.
This website contains all the research resources that made the production of IPES possible.
