    Seven New Funds


    Seven new trust funds, with pledged contributions totaling nearly US$112 million, were established in 2005. All but one are fully untied, with no requirements for the procurement of donor-country nationals.

    New Cash Contribution


    Contributions to new and existing trust funds totaled nearly US$50 million in 2005. The Republic of Korea made the largest contribution--- approximately US$28 million--for its two new trust funds and one existing fund. Japan and the Netherlands followed, with respective contributions of more than US$8.1 million and US$4.5 million.

    More Untied Resources


    Progress has been made in freeing resources from requirements for the procurement of donor-country nationals. Three donors increased the untied portion of their trust funds during 2005.

    Greater Use of Trust Fund Resources


    The amount of trust fund resources allocated for technical cooperation projects increased 63%, rising from US$27 million in 2004 to US$44 million in 2005. Trust fund resources financed 58% of all IDB technical cooperation projects in 2005.
