"reconstruction must not be at the expense of transformation" HondurasDuring a two-day Consultative Group meeting in Tegucigalpa on February 7-8, organized and chaired by the Inter-American Development Bank, the international community reaffirmed its strong support for Honduras' National Plan to rebuild the economy and transform its society. The meeting, chaired by Miguel E. Martínez, Inter-American Development Bank Manager for Mexico, Central America, Panama, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, was attended by over 200 delegates representing the Honduran Government and its civil society and by representatives from over 40 donor countries and international organizations. In his closing remarks, Mr. Martínez said: "Honduras has made significant progress in recovery and reconstruction efforts and a good foundation has been built for strengthening the political, economic and social transformation of the country. Honduras is going forward on the right path." |
