Impact evaluations of programs and projects attempt to measure the changes in
beneficiaries welfare that are attributable to the project. These changes
could include intended and/or unanticipated effects. Impact evaluations may
analyze changes that take place after a project is closed or during project
execution, or both. The most rigorous evaluations tend to be designed as the
project is designed, and hence include elements that take place before, during,
and after project execution.
While OVE conducts ex-post project evaluations , other departments
sometimes conduct or commission impact evaluations related to Bank projects.
This page is intended to provide a space to disseminate this work. The
documents below are evaluation reports from various stages of project
execution. Some describe evaluation planning and design; some are analyses of
baseline data collected. There are interim evaluations conducted during project
execution, as well as final evaluations conducted ex post. For projects which
have more than one phase, evaluations of an earlier phase often serve as a
baseline study and inform project design for subsequent phases.
