IDB governors meeting in Belo Horizonte agree to continue considering debt relief
BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil - The Governors of the Inter-American Development (IDB) have agreed to continue considering the participation of the Bank in the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative, in accordance with a previous agreement by the Ad Hoc Committee of the IDB’s Board of Executive Directors.
To this end, the Governors requested the Committee of the IDB Board of Governors, headed by Paulo Bernardo Silva, IDB Governor for Brazil and newly elected president of the Board of Governors, to study the subject and subsequently present a report to the Board.
The agreement was reached Sunday in Belo Horizonte in a meeting prior to the inauguration of the April 3-5 Board of Governors meeting.
