LAEBA launches web presence. The site will encourage
researchers and scholars worldwide to submit cross-regional and
comparative papers on Latin America/Caribbean and Asia/Pacific for
dissemination to a broader audience. LAEBA's web presence will have
a "preferred" listing in major Internet search engines to enhance
outreach and dissemination.

IADB and ADB jointly organized a roundtable discussion entitled, "After Qatar: Prospects for Trade and Integration in Latin America, the Caribbean and the Asia-Pacific." The
event was co-sponsored by the Brookings Institution and the George
Washington University. Key discussants included Clyde Prestowitz,
Robert Litan, Arvind Panagariya, Robert Devlin and Jaime Zabludovsky.

An IADB-ADB LAEBA strategy meeting was held at the ADBI headquarters to discuss, plan and agree on the 2002-2003 LAEBA program.

The IADB and ADB jointly announce the formation of LAEBA as a major program under the IADB-ADB Partnership Agreement (on the cooperation under the Japan Program) at the 42nd Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the IADB and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC). The Partnership Agreement was signed between the ADB Director, Strategy and Policy Department and the IADB Manager, Integration and Regional Programs Department.
