Andean, Southern Cone and Central American Meetings on Environmental Goods and Services

This past February, April and July, the Environment Network organized Sub-regional meetings in the Andean, Southern Cone and Central American regions respectively, where vice-ministers of the Environment gathered to discuss issues related to environmental goods and services. Accomplishments

Since it was established six years ago, the Regional Policy Dialogue and its networks have proven an efficient tool for fostering dialogue among the Bank’s borrowing member countries, for sharing of insights on key issues for countries and the region as a whole, for exchanging experiences and lessons learned, and for boosting the development of efficient mechanisms to face challenges in common. » More Info

Avoided deforestation,
an issue for the Environment Network

On June 8th, 2007 the Environment Network held an Extraordinary Meeting on “Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD): Perspectives from LAC and Opportunities for Bank Support” at the Bank's DC headquarters. The meeting assembled nine vice-ministers and IDB staff from across the region to discuss the issue of avoided deforestation, which responds to the Network´s request to address forest conservation practices in the context of global CO2 emission reduction initiatives. » More Info
