Chilean dance

La Cueca, a traditional Chilean folk dance, is especially popular at countryside celebrations. Women wear the traditional gowns and hold a handkerchief or pañuelo with which they tease their partner. The men wear their guazo attire, including poncho, hat, boots and spurs. Parra herself wrote and composed many cuecas and helped to preserve others that were in danger of disappearing because they only existed in the oral tradition.
