Flamengo Soccer Team
(Cícero Ferreira Cardoso, 2001)

A disciple of master craftsman Manoel Graciano, Cícero Ferreira Cardoso, born in southern Ceará, has been working on his own for about 10 years. Flamengo, the subject of these pieces, is Rio de Janeiro´s famous soccer team, which is considered a national "asset." I commissioned this work for the IDB after I saw the original in the collection of the Museum of Crafts and Popular Art in Fortaleza.
