Foreword
The Inter-American Development Bank, the oldest and
largest development institution serving the countries
of Latin America and the Caribbean, is committed to
working with the private sector to ensure sustainable
growth for our region. We are also committed to transparency
and open competition: we want firms to be
able to approach the Bank, and our borrowers, with
the belief that they will have a fair and equal opportunity
to win bids arising from the projects that the Bank
helps to finance.
The first step in working with the IDB Group is to learn who we are and how we operate. This
brochure is intended to provide basic information about us, in clear and concise language. The
second step is to learn where to go to obtain the additional, more detailed information that will
make a bid or a loan application more successful. Again, this Business Resource Guide aims to
tell you how to find what you need—whom to contact, and what procedures apply.
Armed with the right information, including tips for bidding on contracts with public agencies in
the region, and a list of products and services available to potential private sector clients, we
hope you will work with us, and with our borrowers, to the mutual benefit of all. Thank you for
your interest in the IDB Group.
